Missing School Means Missing Out!
We encourage all pupils to be at school every day as this is the main way by which they can benefit from all the learning they need to be successful in the future. Please ensure that your child is only absent in extenuating circumstances when they are unfit to be at school.
If your child is absent from school, you must inform the school office with a reason for your child’s absence by 9.30am every day that your child is absent. If you fail to report your child’s absence, this will be unauthorised. If your child receives 6 days (12 sessions) of unauthorised absence within a half term, then you will be at risk of a penalty notice (£120 fine per parent, per child – reduced to £60 if paid within 21 days).
Absences for five days or more:
If your child is absent for five days or more, you must provide medical evidence (that includes your child’s name) or this will be unauthorised. Evidence can include: medical appointment card, prescription, medicine (prescribed by the doctor), medical letter from the doctor or text messages sent to you by your doctor can also be shown to the school office.
Please ensure that all appointments are arranged outside of school times. If this is not possible, you must provide medical evidence or this will be unauthorised.
It is important that your child comes to school on time, every day. Gates open at 8.40am, registration begins at 8.50am and lessons begin at 9am.
